We all strive for healthy, clear skin. The truth is, clear skin is beyond what you put on topically. Consuming certain foods and liquids can transform not only your skin but your body and mind. Try incorporating these 3 antioxidant boosting beverages into your diet.

Antioxidant Boosting Beverage 1: Ginger Lemon Honey Tea

This one is my favorite antioxidant boosting beverages for many reasons.  It is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant-rich, and a good source of vitamin C.  Nothing feels better than settling in for the night and cuddling up with this hot beverage.  Well, it’s a tie with a glass of red…

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties, and as I always say, anything anti-inflammatory is excellent for your body and skin.  Inflammation in the skin can lead to various skin issues, such as acne, hyperpigmentation, or a rosacea flare.

Ingesting anti-inflammatory foods like ginger can help calm inflammation down.  Consuming anti-inflammatory ingredients around that time of the month can also help with pain.

Recipe

Peel the ginger root and cut it into small pieces.  Add about 10 little diced ginger pieces to hot water, cover, and let sit 10 minutes.

Remove cover, squeeze in half of a lemon and 1tsp of honey.

Stir and enjoy!

Lemons, as we all know, are a great source of vitamin c.  They also contain vitamins and minerals essential for health.  Its main benefit is vitamin c.  Vitamin c helps fight against free radicals in the body that can damage cells leading to premature aging and sickness. YUCK

It’s no wonder why we grab more citrus fruits when we feel a cold coming on. However, you should be consuming them daily for healthier skin and health benefits.

Honey has minerals and antioxidants that can aid in health.  But the main reason I add a tsp of honey is to sweeten that bad boy up.  It is too bitter and harsh on the stomach without it.  Just because honey is natural, it is still sugar, so only a tsp 😉

Antioxidant Boosting Beverage 2: Green Tea

We love an ancient medicine.  It’s a no brainer green tea is a great skincare ingredient and can also improve skin health.

Our dear friend green tea is packed with antioxidants called catechins.  As I stated earlier, antioxidants help reduce free radical damage in the body. They protect your cells and detox the bod, baby.

Studies show drinking green tea regularly can help reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, and high cholesterol.  As well as improving skin health!  People who drink green tea every day are healthier than people who don’t.  So, drink up, girlfriend.

I like to have a few cups a day, starting in the morning to the afternoon.  Green tea contains caffeine, so consuming it before bedtime might interrupt your beauty sleep, and we can’t have that.

Antioxidant Boosting Beverage 3: Green Smoothie

Starting your day with a green smoothie is the best thing you can do for your metabolism to kick start your day.  It is an easy way to jam pack all the nutrients you need everyday.

Leafy greens are excellent for your body and especially your skin. They contain many vitamins and minerals.

Bananas are a great source of potassium, while also providing vitamins and fiber.  Strawberries are rich in antioxidants and fiber.

Chia seeds are great to add to smoothies, yogurts, or cereal.  They’re an easy way to get more nutrients into a meal.

Chia seeds are low in calories and offer a bunch of benefits.  Chia seeds supply your body with antioxidants, vitamins, essential amino acids. They’re a great source of fiber, and they’re naturally free of gluten.

Starting your day with a green smoothie will not only set your metabolism up for success but also your mind. I love green smoothies because it’s an easy way to get your greens in for the day.

Recently we know that keeping a healthy gut in line is promising for skin health as well.  All these drinks have powerful nutrients for healthy gut bacteria to thrive.  If you can get all three in one day, you’re a rockstar.

It is important to note breakouts can be genetic or hormonal.  Maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle may not always fix the problem altogether, but it will never hurt your journey.  Health is wealth, my friends.
